The classic tour in Rio, what we call THE BEST OF RIO, starts (after the hotel pick-up) in the direction of the neighborhood of Cosume Velho, via the Lake “Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas” and the tunnel Rebouças, then we reach the station where the travelers take a tram, going through the Tijuca Rainforest, up to the hill of Corcovado, for visit of Rio’s famous Christ Statue. (Note: The tram’s admission fee & entry ticket are included).

Your stay on the top of the hill, beside the Christ Statue will be 40 – 60min, watching the spectacular view of the whole city, the Sugar Loaf, the Tijuca Forest, the sea, etc. After going down the Corcovado Mountain, the tour continues by bus and passes by sites of interest (Sao Conrado & Pepino Beach, etc), until we reach the pre-booked lunch restaurant. Lunch (not beverage) is included as well.

After lunch the tour continues, passing main attractions like: Rio’s downtown, Sambódromo, Central Bank Building, Campo de Santana, fast stop at the Metropolitan Cathedral, Cinelândia with the Municipal Theatre, National Library, Legislative Assembly Building, Museum of beauty Arts, followed by Aterro do Flamengo with the eminence of the Monument of dead during the Second World War, the church of Outeiro da Glória, Monumento of Estácio de Sá and the Botafogo beach. Folkloric Music & Dance Show in Rio de Janeiro. During this traditional show at Plataforma you will get acquainted with the tropical rhythms of the local music, the dance steps and the beauty and exuberance of the Carnival customs. Some guests may say that the show is “touristy”, but who is in Rio and is not a tourist..!? It is well worth a visit, and take it for what it is, an enjoyable evening with music and dance. To complete the evening, you may add for dinner service as well, which is served in another place before the show. The tour is daily and takes about four and a half hour with dinner – The show starts approx at 22:00

OPTIONAL: Add for a dinner before the show, in a typical Brazilian steak house “Churrascaria” where you will find a great smorgasbord and waiters serving many different kinds of meet at your table - until you cannot eat anymore.

The Folkloric Show at Plataforma departs DAILY and takes approx 3 or 5-hours. ADDITIONA INFO:

The Tropical Island Tour starts (after the hotel pick-up) by bus, going to the south of Rio de Janeiro, along the road Rio-Santos to the fishermen village of Itacuruça. There we will board a schooner (locally known as "saveiros"). A tray of tropical fruits will be served on board. A bar is also available on the boat. (Beverages are not included in tour price). The schooner cruises on the Sepetiba Bay, an area rich of natural beauties, where it is common for passengers to spot the dolphins, giant king-fishers, parrots, turtles and sting-rays. After stopping for a swim, continue to the island where a delicious lunch buffet will be served. After lunch, there will still be time to explore the island before returning to Itacuruça. The coach returns via Barra, a charming residential area of Rio, America's Avenue and its modern shopping centers and buildings, Ayrton Senna Avenue and Sernambetiba Avenue, where exciting night life resides.

DEPARTURES:

This tour goes to the town of Petropolis which is located 60 km away from Rio de Janeiro city and it has been called as the Imperial City since the time of the Emperor Pedro II. The town is settled by the Germans and keeps the memory of the Brazilian history with its buildings and charming streets. Upon arrival, the tour starts with a visit to the Imperial Museum, which has been the summer residence of the Emperor D. Pedro II and here you can see furniture and objects such as the crown of gold, pearls and diamonds used by D. Pedro I and D. Pedro II. Then the tour will continue to the Gothic Cathedral where Princess Isabel was buried along with the tombstones of D. Pedro II and his wife. From there you will see the Crystal Palace, built in France and mounted in Brazil, destined to shelter exhibitions and great parties promoted by Princess Isabel.

DEPARTURES:

Tour to Maracana Football Stadium - after pick up at the hotels, the tour goes to the Maracanã Football Stadium (Mario Filho Stadium) – the biggest in the world, where you will watch a great football match, in numbered seats, in the tourist sector (admission fees included). When the match has finished, transfer back to the hotels. The tour is provided days when there is a game, and takes normally 4hours, including time for both transports and the match. It is often matches on Wednesdays & Sundays, but it can happen in other days as well; you might consult us in advanced. If there isn’t any match during your stay in Rio, you could visit the Maracanã Museum; which is open for groups – minimum 6 visitors.

DEPARTURES:

The Maracana Football Tour departs when there is a game and takes approx 4-hours. The passengers will be picked-up from their hotel approx one hour before the game, depending on the hotel location. Exact pick-up time will be advised upon reconfirmation.

The Favela Tour reveals the way of life of around 20% of Rio population. It changes the general idea that favelas are simply no-go areas dominated by criminals only, and opens a new perspective over Rio society. It is a tour to understand the city, its contrasts and paradoxes.

The tour takes the visitors to the community of Vila Canoas, with around 2500 people, and Rocinha, the largest favela in Brazil, having around 60.000 dwellers. Both are placed within the rich neighborhood of São Conrado. In Vila Canoas, we make a walking trip through its narrow alleyways and get a good idea of its local initiatives that are also part of many Rio favelas. Once in Rocinha, the contrasts are more evident as much as we go higher and deeper inside. Its huge dimensions, wide variety of commerce and breathtaking view from the top is certainly impressive for any visitor.

The tour has two departures a day and takes about 3 hours.

9:30 or 14:30: Arriving in Rocinha, explanations about the architecture, public services, carnival etc. Going to a local terrace, pause for pictures of an amazing view to Rio de Janeiro, talks about security and many other aspects of local society. Driving down the Gavea Street, stop at the commercial area, visiting the handcraft center.

10:30 or 15:30: Arriving in Vila Canoas, visiting the community school, this project is been partly financed by FAVELA TOUR and there the tourist can also buy nice handcrafts made by local children. Walk though the narrow pathways inside the favela, explanations about the urbanization project for favelas, politics, religion etc. Optional stop in a local “buteco”. Walking back to our vehicle.

11:30 or 16:30 PM:< Starting the way back to the hotel, through the south beaches area, giving the final explanations about Rio society and its social contrasts.

OBS: During the weekends the community school of Vila Canoas is not operating. Instead we stay and walk longer inside Rocinha, visiting the street fruit market and walking deeply inside it. The tour is not operated on Sunday afternoons, and the Sunday morning tours start one hour later, at 10:00AM.

TRANSPORT AND ENTRANCE IN NORTHEASTERN TRADIONAL FERIA DE RIO DE JANEIRO
Are about 700 fixed stalls, which offer the various types of northeastern culture: cooking, crafts, trios and bands, linings, dance, popular singers and poets, and suddenly the string literature. From Tuesday to Thursday, the restaurants open for lunch. From 10am on Friday until 22h on Sunday, all the tents work, uninterrupted, animated by trios and bands, concerts and forró suddenly and Cordelia.

The mountains that surround the area are part of the C section of the Tijuca National Forest and are called Pedra da Gávea, Pedra Bonita, Cochrane and the two brother peaks.
First a short briefing with the worlds best tandem pilots about the take-off and other aspects of hang gliding. Taking off that is very simple and easy and not terrifying as you might imagine. Soon we will be airborne with out hang glider. Flying means gliding smoothly through the air, after seven steps over the platform you will feel and understand why birds are peaceful animals. The fear of not touching the ground will disappear and will be overcome by tranquility of floating in the air.During flight you will also see the main attractions of Rio de Janeiro ; Sugar loaf , Corcovado , Copacabana , Ipanema , Lagoa and the city of Niteroi on the other side of the Guanabara Bay.
After a smooth landing on the sandy beach of Sao Conrado, you will be offered refreshments while you watch others landing. The whole adventure can be photographed by our special camera attached to the glider or video recorded so you can share this great adventure with your friends and relatives back home.
